February 2014 – Auckland Council workplace implementation

A milestone in the rollout of the Auckland Council workplace strategy was achieved this month with the occupation of the first four floors of the 135 Albert Street Tower in Auckland. With 440 people now working in the new environment and with some teams voluntarily adopting smartdesking, the early indications are that the program has been a resounding success. Occupation of the Tower will continue in stages over the next eight months with a population on completion of over 2000 people, together with accommodation for the Mayor and Councillors and three floors of meeting and function rooms . Work has also commenced on Council’s existing Bledisloe Building, which will house a further 900 staff in a renovated workplace based on the workplace strategy principles.
